Digition VS. eVersion
Do you have the digition?
Digition (pronounced like magician), refers to a digital edition of a book, magazine, or newspaper. These digital editions, or digitions, may also be called ebooks, emagazines, or enewspapers, but just as ecommerce eventually became just commerce, ebooks, emagazines, and enewspapers will eventually be referred to as just books, magazines, and newspapers. Therefore a new term was needed, digital editions, or digitions for short.
Why not eVersion?
For the same reason ecommerce became simply “commerce”, eVersions of books, magazines, and newspapers will eventually just be referred to as the digital version, or digital edition. Using the same logic, one could use the term digiversion, but while initially easier to pronounce, is simply a longer term and so we think digition will have more long-term use in the future when referring to digital versions of books, magazines, and newspapers.
